This article explains what a bundled product is in Qoyod, its benefits, and the activities that benefit from it such as restaurants, cafes, and manufacturing.
What is a bundled product
A bundled product is a final product made up of a set of other products previously added to the product list. It is treated as a single product on invoices, and the quantities of its components are automatically deducted from inventory as soon as the final product is sold.
Benefits of the bundled products feature
- Serves activities that sell their products in varying quantities.
- Saves the effort of listing each product separately when creating an invoice.
- Automatic deduction of components from inventory.
- Clear and easy calculations and resulting reports.
Activities that benefit
Restaurants
A restaurant that serves multiple dishes (such as a pizza made of dough, cheese, olives, and other items) adds each component as a standalone product, then creates the final bundled product “Vegetable Pizza.” When one pizza is sold, the component quantities are automatically deducted from inventory.
Cafes
Preparing a cup of coffee requires a cup, coffee, water, milk, sugar, and other add-ons. The bundled product “Cappuccino” is created by listing all these components, so the coffee cup is billed on a single invoice with automatic inventory deduction.
Manufacturing
A carpentry workshop owner combines raw materials (wood, glue, paint, nails) to prepare a “Dining Table” as a final bundled product. This helps accurately calculate the cost and manage inventory. The chair that accompanies the table is itself considered a final bundled product, which means a bundled product can be part of another bundled product.
Auto repair shops
Auto repair shops provide a service in addition to a product. In the case of changing tires, the final bundled product is “Tire Change Service,” and the tire is added to it as a product alongside the service. This helps calculate the cost of the service and product together on a single invoice.
Plumbing and electrical work
A plumbing and electrical services provider creates a final bundled product that includes the spare parts they supply along with the service provided, so the service price is set inclusive of spare parts on a single invoice.
How the final bundled product works
- Raw materials and products are added before the final bundled product: because the final product contains these components, they must be entered in the system in advance.
- Purchasing the raw materials and products that go into the composition: to add quantities of them, create a purchase invoice with the required quantity.
- The final bundled product is not purchased: only its components are purchased so they are available in inventory, and then the final product is sold.
- A bundled product inside another bundled product: for example, pizza is a final bundled product made of dough, sauce, cheese, and vegetables, and it can be part of a “Meal” that contains it along with a drink and fries as a final bundled product as well.
