This article explains how to record a manual Journal Entry to add capital to the organization, with guidance on choosing the debit and credit accounts.

Steps
- From the “Accounting” menu, open “Manual Journal Entries”.
- Click “Create Manual Entry”.
- Enter the description and set the date.
- On the first line, choose the “Capital” account and enter the amount in the Credit column (because the account is credit by nature).
- Click “Add More” to add a new line.
- Choose the account where the capital was deposited (for example, “Bank Account”) and enter the same amount in the Debit column (because the account is debit by nature and its balance has increased).
- Make sure total debits equal total credits.
- Click “Save”.
Additional information at the line level
Next to each line, a black icon lets you link the line to:
- Location.
- Project.
- Custom fields.
When any of these is selected, the icon turns blue.
Additional information at the entry level
- Attachments: to attach supporting documents.
- Project or Custom fields: once configured from the custom fields settings.
Notes
- Total debits must equal total credits before saving.
