What is this action, and when do you need it?
You can now delete a debit note linked to a simple purchase invoice, and that debit note now appears in the customer or supplier account statement. You need this action when:
- You created a debit note for a simple invoice by mistake and want to remove it instead of leaving it on record.
- You are reviewing a customer or supplier statement that contains a debit note for a simple invoice, and you need to know how to handle it.

Before you start
- If the debit note is linked to vouchers, unlink them first so you can delete it.
- Delete and approve are separate permissions on simple invoice debit notes. If you do not see the delete option, check your permissions with the account admin. For details, see managing user permissions.

Steps to delete the debit note
- Open Purchases from the side menu, then Simple Invoices.
- Click the simple invoice debit notes tab at the top of the page.
- Open the debit note you want to delete.
- If the note is linked to vouchers, unlink them first.
- Delete the note.
How the note appears in the account statement
A debit note linked to a simple invoice appears in the customer or supplier account statement. To review one party’s transactions over a period, use the customer / supplier account statement report.

The note cannot be deleted while its vouchers are linked. Unlink them first, then delete the note.
