Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Phase 1 and Phase 2?
Phase 1 (Generation) started on December 4, 2021 and requires issuing invoices in a structured format with a QR code. Phase 2 (Integration) started on January 1, 2023 in waves based on revenue, and requires linking your system to the Fatoora platform to submit every invoice to ZATCA.
What is the VAT rate in Saudi Arabia?
The standard rate is 15%, effective since July 1, 2020, with zero-rated and exempt supplies depending on the activity.
Is Qoyod compliant with Phase 2?
Yes. Qoyod issues every invoice signed with a cryptographic stamp, carrying a unique identifier and a QR code, with real-time clearance for B2B invoices and reporting within 24 hours for B2C invoices.
Does Qoyod file my tax return on my behalf?
No. Qoyod calculates tax automatically and generates the return summary, but filing the return and paying the tax are done directly through the ZATCA portal.
Which invoices require real-time clearance?
The standard tax invoice (B2B) is cleared by ZATCA before it is sent to the buyer, while the simplified invoice (B2C) is issued immediately and then reported within 24 hours.
How do I make sure my business is ready for compliance?
Start with the ZATCA readiness check tool, then use the QR code reader to confirm your invoices match the requirements. If you need help, the Qoyod support team is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
