Here are the steps to enable e-invoicing so that invoices comply with the authority’s regulations and display a QR code barcode:
- Go to Settings from the main menu.
- Select General Settings.
- In the Title field, select Saudi Arabia as the country.
- You will see a field Enable E-invoicing According to Saudi Arabia Regulations.
- Select Yes to enable e-invoicing according to Saudi Arabia regulations.
- Click Save to enable e-invoicing.
How do you verify that e-invoicing is enabled?
Go to Settings and then General Settings. Next to the Enable E-invoicing According to Saudi Arabia Regulations field, if you see a message E-invoicing regulations have been applied to this entity, this means it has been enabled successfully. If you don’t see this field, make sure you have selected Saudi Arabia as the country on the same page.
The data displayed inside the barcode when read with the Zakat Authority app or QR KSA Reader is:
- Seller name
- Seller tax number
- Invoice issuance date
- Total invoice amount (including tax)
- VAT amount
Additional Information
- Document type (such as: invoice, credit note) does not appear inside the barcode in the first phase of e-invoicing.
- If there is a performance guarantee deduction when scanning the barcode in the Zakat Authority app, only the total invoice amount appears without the performance guarantee deduction, and this is the correct and authority-approved behavior.
Note:
- The tax number must be added correctly to complete e-invoicing activation.
- Once you enable e-invoicing from Settings and then General Settings, the barcode will automatically appear on all approved sales invoices and credit notes (including old invoices created before activation) along with the QR code, so your customers or regulatory authorities can read them and verify the information directly through the authority’s approved apps.
- The QR barcode appears on invoices after enabling e-invoicing (first phase) and will appear as soon as e-invoicing is enabled.
- The barcode appears only on sales invoices and credit notes according to the authority’s regulations, not on purchase invoices or invoices in draft or pending approval status. If you create a sales invoice in Qoyod, the barcode automatically appears on the invoice after approval.
- After enabling e-invoicing, you will see two designers for sales invoice templates (Tax Invoice Designer, Simplified Tax Invoice Designer), whereas before activation there is only one designer. You can access this by going to Settings, then General Settings, then selecting Sales Invoice Settings from the top options, and scrolling down to select the designer.
- If e-invoicing has been enabled and you are not subject to VAT, you can disable e-invoicing through us after providing a tax non-registration certificate.
- Enabling e-invoicing (first phase) is available during the free trial period (14 days).
