Units of measurement are used to determine how products are displayed and sold within the system.
Selecting a unit of measurement is mandatory when creating a product; a product cannot be saved without specifying a unit of measurement.
When creating an invoice and adding a product to the line items, a quantity field appears to specify (quantity, unit of measurement). If a unit of measurement is not selected, an error message will appear: “Unit of measurement must be selected” and the invoice cannot be saved.
You can add new units of measurement in two ways, and all added units are available for all products in the system.
First: Available Types of Units of Measurement
When adding a unit of measurement, you must select the unit type (optional? No, mandatory).
The available types are:

-

Selecting a unit type is mandatory, and the unit cannot be saved without it.

You can easily edit the unit of measurement:
-
Go to: Products and Costs Menu

Change the Primary Unit of Measurement

Click Save
Case 2: Has Movements or Invoices (Sales or Purchases)
The primary unit of measurement cannot be edited in this case.
However, you have two options:
Option 1 (Recommended if you want a radical correction):
-
Archive the current product
-
Create a new product with the correct unit of measurement
Note: Transactions can be deleted only if possible, but it is generally not recommended because it affects financial data.
Option 2 (Without Affecting Current Data):
You can add an additional unit of measurement using Unit Conversion:
-
Go to: Products and Costs Menu
-
Click Edit next to the product
-
Go to the Unit Conversion section
-
Add the new unit of measurement
-
Click Save
