Account not appearing in manual entries: Checking account level, parent accounts, and archiving

The account must be at level three or higher to appear in manual journal entries. If the account is a parent account with sub-accounts, the parent account will not appear, and only the sub-accounts will appear.

Steps

  1. Verify Account Level
    • Go to the Chart of Accounts and make sure the required account is at level three or higher.
  2. Verify Parent Account
    • If the account is a parent account with sub-accounts, use one of the sub-accounts in the manual journal entry instead of the parent account.
  3. Check Account Archive Status
    • Ensure the account is not archived through the Chart of Accounts. If it is archived, you can unarchive it to use it again.

Important Notes

  • Accounts at levels one and two do not appear in manual journal entries.
  • Archived accounts do not appear until they are restored.
  • Parent accounts are not used directly in manual journal entries; instead, the sub-accounts under them are used.
