E-Invoicing Updates: XML Download, Supply Date, and Deferred Submission

August 23, 2026

Three e-invoicing updates in one batch, serving both phase one and phase two: XML file downloads, the supply date carried onto notes, and future-dated invoices submitted at the right time.

XML file download for phase one organizations

Organizations on phase one of e-invoicing can now download the XML file for tax invoices, credit notes, and debit notes directly from the document view page, through the new download XML button. The button is available for approved documents and those paid in full or in part.

The file is also attached inside the document’s PDF/A-3 copy, so the printed copy itself carries the structured data alongside the usual human-readable form. The feature covers previously issued documents, not just new ones.

The supply date on credit and debit notes

The system now automatically shows the supply date of the linked original invoice on the view page for credit notes and sales debit notes, for organizations with e-invoicing enabled.

The supply date is also included automatically in the XML file submitted to ZATCA when a note is issued, based on the date already recorded on the original invoice. That keeps notes compliant with ZATCA requirements and makes the picture clearer for the user.

Future-dated invoices

ZATCA does not accept any document dated later than the current date. So when an invoice is saved and approved with a future issue date, an alert explains this, and the system defers submitting the invoice to ZATCA until the issue date arrives instead of sending it on approval.

The confirmation message shows the future issue date and asks the user to confirm or cancel the save. On confirmation the invoice is saved normally, the submission status stays as sending, and the system submits it automatically when the date arrives with no further intervention.

This lets you prepare and approve future-dated invoices in advance, while submission stays aligned with ZATCA rules.

The updates are available now. Visit the e-invoicing hub for Saudi businesses.
