One item, more than one way to sell it.
An item is sold by the kilo and by the tray, and the customer pays part before you prepare the order, once you define the unit and record the payment in Qoyod.
Accounting Software for Sweets Shops in Jordan starts from a single item: what do you charge for it by the kilo, and what by the tray? In a sweets shop, from Amman to Irbid, you sell baklava by the kilo to one customer and by the tray to another, and a customer may pay part of the price before you prepare the order. Define the tray unit for the item in Qoyod, record the advance as a receipt, and issue the invoice by quantity.
1. A day in a sweets shop
Before you choose accounting software for a sweets shop, look at where the numbers of a single item live: its price by the kilo, its price by the tray, what the customer paid before the order, and what you owe your suppliers.
A kilo here and a tray there
You sell baklava by the kilo to one customer and by the tray to another, and work out the difference by hand.
With Qoyod: set a unit conversion for the item, and Qoyod counts the stock in its base unit. Illustration: one tray = 3 kilos.
A customer who pays before you prepare the order
The customer pays part of the price of a tray before you prepare it, and you have nowhere to put the money until the invoice is issued.
With Qoyod: record the payment as a receipt in their name, then allocate it to their invoice.
A customer who buys on account
A customer buys trays for hospitality on account, and what they owe is spread over loose papers.
With Qoyod: record the credit invoice on their account, and review their balance in the customer statement.
Suppliers with scattered balances
You buy sugar, ghee and nuts from more than one supplier, and each supplier’s balance sits in a different notebook.
With Qoyod: record purchase invoices from your suppliers, and follow each supplier’s balance and what you have paid.
2. An order’s journey through your shop
From defining the item to what the customer still owes, five stops, each adding a number to the card.
Stop 1: Define the item
Add baklava to Qoyod as a product with its code, purchase price and selling price, and pick its base unit from the list, such as the kilo, because it cannot be changed once the product is used in an invoice or in stock.
Stop 2: The tray unit
Add the tray unit with a name, a display form and a type, set that it equals 3 kilos, and give it a selling price of its own, so that all the item’s units appear in the invoice.
Stop 3: An advance
What a customer pays before the order, record as a standalone receipt in their name, and it stays unused until you allocate it.
Stop 4: The order invoice
Issue the sales invoice by quantity in trays and in kilos, allocate the receipt to it, and follow what you have collected and what is left.
Stop 5: What the customer still owes
Review what the customer still owes in the customer statement.

7. Frequently asked questions
Does a sweets shop have to issue invoices through the National Invoicing System (JoFotara)?
The e-invoicing mandate covers every seller of goods or provider of services, not only those registered for General Sales Tax, except for activities that the Invoicing Affairs Instructions exempt under set conditions. A seller that is not registered issues an income invoice. Mandatory application has been in force since 1 April 2025, with oversight steadily tightening. Other sectors were added to the list in Article (4) of the Invoicing Affairs Instructions by later amendments, so it is not a closed list. Check the text in force for your activity with the Income and Sales Tax Department.
More detail in our guide to the JoFotara exemption
If a business is not required to issue invoices, does that mean it pays no sales tax?
Not by itself. An exemption from the provisions of the Invoicing Regulation, where one applies, does not on its own exempt anyone from General Sales Tax or income tax, each of which has its own law. Check your tax position with your accountant.
How do I sell the same item by the kilo and by the tray in Qoyod?
Pick the item’s base unit from the list of units, such as the kilo, or add a new unit with a name and a display form, and Qoyod asks for a type for the new unit. Then set the unit conversion: a larger unit, such as the tray, equals a number of the base unit and takes a selling price of its own, and Qoyod counts the stock in the base unit. All the item’s units appear in the invoice. Choose the base unit at the start, because it cannot be changed once the product is used in an invoice or in stock.
Does Qoyod track the expiry dates of sweets?
No. Qoyod has no tracking of batch numbers or expiry dates. What it offers is each item’s balance and movements in every location, and a periodic stock count that shows slow-moving stock before it expires. The expiry date is read from the packaging.
Can I record an advance from a customer before I prepare the order?
Yes. Record the payment as a standalone voucher with no invoice, and it stays unused until you allocate it to a later invoice, so what the customer still owes shows what is left.

Does Qoyod manage recipes, production cost and occasion orders?
Qoyod is accounting software, and what we show on this page is invoices, balances, purchases and reports. Recipes, production cost and scheduling occasion orders are not something we show here, so ask sales what fits your shop.
That completes the order: an item with two units, an advance, an invoice, and what the customer still owes.
