One box of pens. All its numbers.
From the supplier’s invoice to the last pen on the shelf, whether your shop is exempt from the invoicing mandate today or required to issue invoices.
Accounting software for bookshops and stationery in Jordan starts with one question: what does a single pen cost you? A bookshop in Amman, a stationery shop in Irbid or a corner shop for notebooks near the school all buy by the box and sell by the piece. In Qoyod, each item gets its code, its prices and a unit conversion, so stock is counted per piece, and you can see what each piece costs and earns.
1. A day in your shop
Before you choose stationery shop accounting software, look at where your numbers live today.
One price for the box, another for the pen
You pay for the whole box, sell it pen by pen, and never know what one pen earned.
With Qoyod: see each item’s cost and margin in the product cost and profit margin report.
Seasonal stock
You stock up before the school year, and count what is left by hand.
With Qoyod: use a barcode reader during a stock count to add items quickly, and a periodic count shows the slow-moving items.
The school and company account
A school or a company takes goods on account, and its balance sits in a notebook.
With Qoyod: record credit sales to your customers, and follow their balances in the customer statement and the ageing report.
Copying and printing
Photocopy money goes in the drawer with the stationery money, so you cannot tell which one earned.
With Qoyod: add copying and printing as a service with its own selling price, and choose the revenue account for it.

Who must use e-invoicing in Jordan
Whether your shop is exempt today or obliged, Qoyod keeps the books for your stock, purchases and cash, and it is integrated with the National Invoicing System (JoFotara) for when you need it.
3. One box of pens, through your shop
One box of pens, five stops, one new number on its label at each.
Stop 1: In from the supplier
Your box arrives with five others on one purchase invoice. You paid part of it, so the rest stays on the supplier’s balance.
Stop 2: Opened into pens
The box is a large unit of 50 pens with its own prices, and stock is counted in pens: the pieces you sell.
Stop 3: A barcode on every pen
Enter the barcode printed on the pack or generate one, and print it from the product page.
Stop 4: On the shelf and in the storeroom
Follow its balance in the shop and the warehouse. Set a reorder level for each item in each location, and follow stock status on the dashboard.
Stop 5: Sold, with its margin showing
The product cost and profit margin report shows its margin, at average cost.
4. Accounting Software for Bookshops and Stationery in Jordan: what Qoyod covers around the shelf
E-invoicing and accounting, integrated in one system. Here are six more jobs Qoyod covers in your shop.
Shop and warehouse
Set up each shop or warehouse as a location, move items between them and set each user’s access by location.
Copying and printing as a service
Add copying or printing as a service product with its selling price and revenue account. A service is not stocked and not purchased, and it appears on sales invoices.
Your items from Excel
Import items, opening balances, suppliers and stock counts from Excel templates.
Cash and bank
Add your cash and bank accounts, and record receipts and payments against them. Then reconcile your bank statement.
Cash and credit sales
Issue cash and credit sales invoices from Qoyod, and follow what you have collected and what your customers still owe.
Tax on each item
Qoyod invoices calculate General Sales Tax at its standard 16% rate, and support reduced rates and exempt and zero-rated goods. Set each item’s tax on its product card according to what applies to it.
5. Your accountant is part of the decision
If you work with an accountant, their view comes before your decision. Whether the exemption conditions apply to your shop is for them and the tax department to judge. The books belong in Qoyod.

7. Frequently asked questions
Are bookshops and stationery shops exempt from the National Invoicing System (JoFotara)?
Article (4) of the Invoicing Affairs Instructions No. (1) of 2019 names bookshops and stationery shops among the licensed activities that are exempt when their annual sales are below JOD 75,000. Other sectors were added to the list by later amendments, so it is not a closed list. Check the text in force for your activity with the Income and Sales Tax Department. The exemption is not permanent. Where there is sufficient evidence that a business’s sales exceed the limit, the Director General of the Income and Sales Tax Department may require it to comply with the Regulation (Article 11/B).

If my shop is exempt from the invoicing mandate, is it also exempt from General Sales Tax?
Not by itself. This is an exemption from the provisions of the Invoicing Regulation. On its own it does not exempt anyone from General Sales Tax or income tax, each of which has its own law. Check your position with your accountant.
What if my sales grow, or I want to issue invoices anyway?
The exemption is not permanent. Where there is sufficient evidence that a business’s sales exceed the limit, the Director General of the Income and Sales Tax Department may require it to comply with the Regulation (Article 11/B). An exempt business may apply in writing to issue invoices, and the Regulation then applies to it in full (Article 11/C). Either way, Qoyod is integrated with the National Invoicing System (JoFotara).
I buy by the box and sell by the piece. Can Qoyod handle that?
Yes. Buy by the box and sell by the piece: set a unit conversion for the item, and Qoyod counts the stock in its base unit. That is what you need from any accounting system for a bookshop: buy in one unit and sell in another.
Can I record copying and printing in Qoyod?
Yes. Add them as a service product, and set their selling price and revenue account. A service is not stocked and not purchased, so it needs no purchase price.
Can I set a credit limit for each school?
No. Qoyod does not let you set a credit limit for a customer. What you follow is each customer’s balance in the customer statement and the ageing report.
That completes the box’s numbers: supplier, pens, barcode, balance on the shelf and the margin on one pen. That answers the first question.
